Kindness Blitz and Joy Grenades: Spreading Love the Mountain Way

February 18, 2024

Ah, February, the month of love. But who needs fancy dinners and designer chocolates when you can conquer mountains and spread kindness like confetti? Yep, we've got our own unique ways to show we care up here.

The Drop Zone for Kindness

Let's talk about dropping kindness like a hammer. You know, the kind that breaks down walls and builds bridges. Turns out, giving is not just warm and fuzzy; it's backed by science. When you selflessly give, your brain does a little happy dance, releasing those feel-good dopamine chemicals. It's like your brain saying, "Hey, that felt awesome, let's do it again!"

And guess what? You don't need a fat wallet to make a splash. Quality time is the VIP ticket of gifts. Imagine, your undivided attention, no distractions, just you and your buddy conquering trails or slopes. It's like giving someone a bear hug for their soul.

Healthy Habits, Joy-Filled Hijinks

February slump hitting hard? Now, don't be part of the 43% ditching New Year's goals before Feb 1st. Time to hit back with a joy bomb. Yeah, that's right. Cultivate those healthy habits with a splash of joy that hits like a knockout punch. Want to be the superhero of your aging journey? Strap in and strengthen your health span arsenal. Mental health checks, wise eating choices, stress-busting tactics, and sweating it out – that's your blueprint to bossing it in your later years.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

The best gift we can give is our time. So, carve out a little to volunteer and spread some seriously good vibes. In the game of showing appreciation, actions are the MVP. Forget fancy speeches; share a waffle with the buddy bonking on the mountain, bring a spare cup for your post-shred bevvy ritual, or offer to drop off your buddy’s skis for a wax. And hey, if life's got your friend feeling like a headless chicken, get ‘em out to do one of their favorite things. It's the little things that make the biggest ripples.

Pro tip: Kind Bike and Skis has fast ski/board tuning and binding services, always overnight. Drop your gear by closing time and it will be ready for pick-up when we open at 8am the next morning..

Speaking of ripples, donating your time is incredibly valuable. Life is busy, but carving out time to volunteer will leave you with a surplus of fulfillment and new trail-digging pals.

While there are over 100 nonprofits in the Vail Valley, one we love and support, Vail Valley Mountain Trail Alliance’s mission to build and maintain singletrack trails resonates with our team of bike fans. We're riding naturally high because of where we live and in a community where a teenager may need to be reminded that "the cleaning lady is off today" — our volunteer muscles maintain the trails.

When the dirt dries, our staff will work hard to improve Berry Creek Trail, located on the north side of Edwards. Stay tuned for trail build days this summer and bring your rad teenager along.

So, as we dive headfirst into the season of love, let's make it count. Go ahead, unleash your kindness blitz and joy bombs – the mountains are waiting. Need a hug? Swing by the shop and let's turn up the heat!

P.S. Still need to show up with a pretty box on the Hallmark holiday? Kind Bike and Skis has you covered for all your gifting needs. From heated socks for your perpetually cold partner to base layers that make you feel like a mountain ninja.
